London Midland driver retires after 50 years in the rail industry

Press Release   •   Jun 12, 2014 17:02 BST

Bletchley depot-based driver, Alan Robson, drove his last ever train this week, and will now embark upon a well-earned and well-deserved retirement – just four months short of 50 years on the ‘footplate’.

Alan’s last train was the 10.55 Bedford to Bletchley service, and the momentous moment in his career history was made even more special as his Granddaughter Georgina Robson, a Bletchley-based Senior Conductor, shared the journey with him as conductor on the train.

Alan’s colleagues marked the occasion with a series of celebrations, including a special message on the customer information screen at Bletchley, before presenting him with a retirement cake.

Patrick Verwer, London Midland's managing director said, "We wish Alan a long and happy retirement and thank him for his commitment and dedication to the rail industry".
